Trying Daiwa for replacements.Ĭomments: had my mgx2 for a year now & it is every bit as good as the gen 1. Whatever is left is now in my spare parts box. 3 months later the second reel did the same thing. I would not recommend.Ĭomments: Had 2 of them, 2 years into ownership the palming side plate flew off into the lake while casting. Other then being light my SLX is smoother. This reel out of the package was not smooth feels cheap and you can not turn off brakes always all 4 on. I did and would buy again at $200.Ĭomments: Bought 2 at 200.00 own matainium and and a few other 400.00 reels. The gears aren't as smooth as shimano's micromodule gears, they still feel very smooth. Very solid caster and very difficult to backlash. It is a very light reel and solid magnesium frame. I own a Metanium DC and Metanium MGL, Scorpion MGL, and Scorpion DC. Just a backup reel now.Ĭomments: Great reel, especially when discounted. I love my low profile Lew's, Shimano, and Daiwa reels f or bassin' (all from TW) and still love my AbuG round reel classics but I don't even want to sell the MGX cheap due to conscience. I have to (or want to) believe that the newer gen models are much better with bugs worked out but I'll never take that chance. Absolutely the WORST expensive reel I've ever purchased. I would press the spool release and re-engage to make it work. Long and short, sent it back, they returned it and then other things started happening like after a cast, turning the reel handle didn't always engage the spool and it would make awful gear slipping/missing sounds. Abu G made me take pictures and write up the whole explanation and basically justify my wanting the reel fixed. Like others have said, my side palm plate just flew off on a cast and I actually caught it but fumbled and it dropped in the water. That's the extent of my positive words to say about it. It is a great all around bass fishing reel from topwaters to jigs.Ĭomments: Purchased when they first released them and was ecstatic when I first handled it. I don't think it's a fit for 8 ounce swimbaits or 1/16 ounce rapalas into the wind on 20lb test. If you know anyone looking I have 6 Abu Revo Rockets 10:1 and 8 Abu Revo STX purchased right here last spring. They were more than I expected and took over the starting role in my boats.
Infinitely Variable Centrifugal Brake (IVCB-4TM)Ĭomments: Just couldn't resist after I bought a pair and gave them a little time to prove themselves. Super light and extremely strong, the Abu Garcia REVO MGX Casting Reel has it all.
Also equipped with an aircraft-grade aluminum main gear for maximum power without excess weight, the Titanium-coated line guide reduces friction and improves durability. The ten bearing system (9+1) keeps functioning impossibly smooth, and the hefty Carbon Matrix drag system delivers smooth, consistent drag pressure across its entire range. Its ground breaking one-piece X-Mag alloy frame along with C6 carbon side plates also delivers significant weight reduction without sacrificing strength and durability. Its IVCB-4 infinitely variable centrifugal braking system allows for almost limitless adjustments in casting control, allowing you to throw a wide range of lures with ease.
The Abu Garcia REVO MGX Casting Reel sets the standard yet again in compact, lightweight performance.
